Saint Anselm quarterback Eric Fairweather on Monday was named the Northeast-10 Conference Offensive Player of the Week.
Fairweather, a Londonderry High grad, passed for 347 yards and three touchdowns in the Hawks’ 25-24 victory over Southern Connecticut State University on Saturday.
The Hawks swept top honors, with C.J. Miller taking Defensive Player of the Week after recording eight tackles, an interception and 2½ sacks in the win.
Saint Anselm visits Bentley this coming Saturday at 1 p.m.
Plymouth State in rankings
After edging Mass. Maritime 7-3 on Saturday, Plymouth State University climbed back into the Grinold Chapter New England Division III football poll released on Monday. The Panthers checked in at No. 10; they weren’t ranked last week.
PSU, in improving to 5-2, received a game-saving defensive play from Atkinson’s Matt Shea with just over a minute to play. On a fourth-down play, Shea pushed a receiver out of bounds before his feet landed to preserve the win.
Plymouth State visits Bridgewater State on Saturday at 2:30 p.m.
College soccer: UNH’s Sackie honored
UNH forward Donnett Sackie on Monday was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in the Wildcats’ 5-0 win over Hartford on Saturday.
Sackie scored two goals as the Wildcats, ranked 14th in last week’s national coaches poll, improved to 12-0-2 and 5-0-0 in the conference. A native of Liberia, Sackie has five goals on the season.
UNH visits Albany on Friday for a 7 p.m. contest.
