UNH’s Jack Doherty, of Meriden, scored the lone Wildcats goal in a 1-1 tie with Vermont in a regular-season finale on Wednesday night in Durham.

Here's some good news/OK news for UNH soccer fans.

Good news: The Wildcats on Wednesday night earned the No. 1 seed in the America East Conference Tournament and a first-round bye to the semifinals.

OK news: UNH, ranked 18th nationally, did so by tying Vermont 1-1 in a regular-season finale at Wildcat Stadium, thus settling for a league regular-season co-championship with the Catamounts.

Both teams finished 5-1-1 in league play. UNH is 12-2-3 overall; Vermont is 11-5-1.

Meriden's Jack Doherty scored for UNH, assisted by Antonio Colacci and Bedford's Josh Bauer, in the first half, giving the hosts a 1-0 lead. Rasmus Tobinski knotted the score at 73:51 on a penalty kick.

The Wildcats will host an America East semifinal game next Wednesday. They will host the winner of the quarterfinal contest between No. 4 seed Albany and No. 5 seed UMass Lowell.

UNH women bow out

Top-seeded Stony Brook scored in the 64th minute to edge the UNH women's soccer team 2-1 in an America East semifinal on Thursday in Stony Brook, N.Y. Kaylan Williams scored for UNH, which finished 10-8-0.

NE-10 soccer quarterfinals on Saturday

SNHU and Franklin Pierce will host Northeast-10 Conference tournament quarterfinals on Saturday. The Ravens, seeded second, host No. 7 Bentley at 5 p.m.. The No. 3 Penmen will host No. 6 Saint Rose at 4 p.m. 

Semifinals are scheduled for next Wednesday, with the championship on Saturday at Nov. 16.

Saint Anselm basketball team ranked 12th in Div. II

The Saint Anselm College men’s basketball team was ranked 12th in NCAA Division II, according to the D2SIDA Men’s Basketball National Media Poll released on Tuesday.

Northwest Missouri State placed first in the poll. No other Northeast-10 Conference teams were ranked, although New Haven received votes.

The Hawks open their regular season tonight with a 5 p.m. game against Concordia College of Bronxville, N.Y., at the Bentley Tip-Off Classic in Waltham, Mass.
