Fenway Park will host a college football bowl game in 2020, according to a report Tuesday.

Representatives of the Atlantic Coast Conference and the American Athletic Conference will play at an unknown date in the as yet unnamed and unsponsored contest, Stadium's Brett McMurphy reported.

"This is a good thing if you like college football," McMurphy said. "Certainly it's good for the American. They get a bowl game against a Power Five opponent."

The historic home of the Boston Red Sox would be the third major league stadium to host a bowl game in 2010, along with Yankee Stadium (Pinstripe Bowl) and the Arizona Diamondbacks' Chase Field (Cheez-It Bowl).

Fenway Park has hosted other non-baseball sporting events, most notably the NHL Winter Classic on Jan. 1, 2010 when the Boston Bruins defeated the Philadelphia Flyers, 2-1, in overtime.

Football games played at the 107-year-old ballpark include Boston College against Notre Dame in 2015 and the Harvard-Yale rivalry game in 2018.
