Julia Seader’s eighth-inning home run sent host Saint Anselm College packing on Friday as the Hawks fell to Long Island University-Post, 2-1, in the third and final game of their NCAA Division II softball Super Regional series.

Trailing 1-0 in the series, Saint Anselm had to win Game 2 earlier in the day to force a Game 3 and did so with a 9-6 victory.

Rochester’s Shannon Colson, Newton’s Erin Thompson and Maggie Murphy each had two RBIs in that game.

Game 3 went scoreless over the first four innings before a Bailey Cain RBI single scored Kat Stackrow in the fifth inning and gave the Hawks a 1-0 lead. LIU-Post responded in the sixth when Ashley Melendez chased in Hanna Finkelstein with a single to right-center field.

Following Seader’s home run, McKenna Smith shut down the Hawks in the bottom of the eighth, striking out a pair in a one-two-three inning.

Saint Anselm finished the year with a 41-10 overall record.
