For the second straight season, the Southern New Hampshire University baseball team was predicted to win the Northeast-10 Conference Northeast Division in the league's annual preseason poll of coaches. Franklin Pierce University and Saint Anselm College were predicted to finish second and seventh, respectively, in the eight-team Northeast Division.
The Penmen went 41-17 overall -- their third straight 40-plus win campaign -- and 19-6 in NE-10 play and advanced to the national semifinals last season. SNHU graduate student John Stanton and Tom Blandini, a junior from Bow, were both named to the Preseason National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association All-East Region Team.
Franklin Pierce went 33-15-1 overall and 21-6 against NE-10 competition last season, reaching the NCAA East Regional. Saint Anselm is coming off an 11-28 overall campaign last spring in which it went 5-20 in conference play. The Hawks did not reach the conference postseason last year.
