Northeastern's Jeremy Davies had two goals and two assists as the Huskies scored five goals in the third period of a 6-0 win over the University of New Hampshire in Hockey East men's play Saturday night at the Whittemore Center in Durham.
Lincoln Grifffin scored twice, and Tyler Madden and Zach Solow added goals.
Davies' goal at 11:24 of the second period but NU in front. Griffin scored the first of his two at 3:36 of the third.
Then the Huskies' special teams took over, as Davies scored on the power play at 4:56. UNH had a power play midway through the period with a chance to get back in it, but Griffin scored shorthanded at 11:22 to make it 4-0. That game broke the Wildcats' backs.
Solow scored on the power plat at 13:16 and Madden at 15:17.
Cayden Primeau made 23 saves for NU in the win. Ty Taylor allowed four goals and made 15 saves before giving way in the third period to Joe Lazzaro, who allowed two and stopped four.
The win leaves UNH (7-9-5 Hockey East, 11-12-8 overall) in eighth place in Hockey East with 19 points. Northeastern (13-7-1 Hockey East, 21-9-1 overall) has 27 points and is tied for second in the league.
The Wildcats have a home-and-home with UMass Lowell next weekend.
