Senior forward Joseph Cipollone scored the game-winning goal with 56.5 seconds left in regulation Saturday night as the University of New Hampshire men’s hockey team defeated Union, 3-2, at the Whittemore Center in Durham.
UNH, off to a 2-0 start for the first time since the 2017-18 season, trailed 1-0 after one period and 2-1 early in the third. The Wildcats rallied to tie the score on each occasion, setting up Cipollone’s dramatic game-winner.
Sophomore defenseman Luke Reid had a goal and an assist in the win, while senior forward Filip Engarås also had a goal for UNH.
UNH goalie Mike Robinson of Bedford made 16 saves to record the win.
UNH returns to action on Friday when the Wildcats travel to face Arizona State (9 p.m.).
