Josh Bauer

UNH’s Josh Bauer, shown in action during the season opener against Boston University, is a semifinalist for college soccer’s player of the year award.

Two New Hampshire players combined to send the Wildcats to the NCAA men's soccer tournament.

Bedford's Josh Bauer scored 3:27 into the contest to provide the only goal in the University of New Hampshire's 1-0 win over Hartford on Saturday night in the America East men's soccer championship game at Wildcat Stadium in Durham. Kyle Brewster, of New Hampton, provided the assist with an airborne pass that Bauer headed home.

The Wildcats dominated the game, taking 20 shots, seven on target, to Hartford's five, with just two on target. Alejandro Robles turned back both shots for the Wildcats.

UNH, 13-1-3, won its second straight America East championship and will go to the NCAA tournament for the third straight year. The selection show will be Monday at 1 p.m.
