Yennsy Diaz surrendered just two hits over seven innings while striking out eight as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats blanked the Altoona Curve, 5-0, in Eastern League action at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium on Tuesday night.
Diaz walked just two batters in improving his record to 4-3. Vinny Nittolo and Jackson McClelland each pitched an inning of shutout relief as New Hampshire improved to 20-22.
The game was scoreless until the bottom of the fifth when Brock Lundquist's RBI single scored Andres Sotillo to make it 1-0.
The Fisher Cats then broke it open in the bottom of the seventh, scoring four times. Vinny Capra had a sacrifice fly, scoring Forrest Wall, before Christian Williams cracked a three-run homer to right, scoring Santiago Espinal and Kevin Smith.
Williams, Wall, Brock Lundquist, Riley Adams and Andres Sotillo each had a pair of hits as New Hampshire piled up 12 as a team.
The teams continue their series tonight at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. First pitch is at 6:35 p.m.
