The New Hampshire Fisher Cats have today off to prepare for the Eastern League playoffs. And that’s something they haven’t been able to say since 2011.
The Fisher Cats finished in second place in the EL’s East Division after Trenton won on Sunday night, giving the Thunder the division title.
The teams will resume their battles in Game 1 of the league semifinals on Wednesday at 6:35 p.m. at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester. Game 2 is set for Thursday at 6:35 in Manchester before the best-of-five series switches to New Jersey for Game 3 on Friday night and Games 4 and 5, if necessary, on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon.
On Monday, in their regular-season finale, the Fisher Cats (76-62) used five pitchers in a 5-3 loss to the Hartford Yard Goats before 4,642 fans at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. Starter Josh DeGraaf (7-6) allowed three runs in three innings and took the loss.
Jon Berti, one of the Fisher Cats’ hottest hitters down the stretch, contributed a solo homer among his three hits.
Hartford starter Jesus Tinoco (9-12) worked five innings for the win. Sam Hilliard, Roberto Ramos and Omar Carrizales homered for the Yard Goats.
