Fisher Cats draw first blood in playoff series with Trenton

The New Hampshire Fisher Cats broke a scoreless deadlock with three runs in the sixth inning and put it away with a five-run eighth inning in an 8-0 win over the Trenton Thunder on Wednesday night in the first game of the Eastern League’s Eastern Division Series at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.

Game 2 of the best-of-five is Thursday night at 6:35.

Jon Berti walked to lead off the sixth and scored on Bo Bichette’s ground-rule double to left-center. After Harold Ramirez singled and took second on the throw, Cavan Biggio doubed both home for the 3-0 advantage.

In the eighth, Ramirez scored on a Pentecost RBI groundout and Biggio scored on an RBI single by Josh Palacios. Then Berti singled home two and Bichette singled home one.

T.J. Zeuch pitched six scoreless innings to earn the win, allowing eight hits and fanning five. Kirby Snead, Dusty Isaacs and Travis Bergen wrapped it up with three innings of scoreless relief.
