The New Hampshire Fisher Cats scored eight runs in the first inning, including back-to-back homers by Santiago Espinal and Alberto Mineo, to crush the host Binghamton Rumble Ponies 10-5 in an Eastern League game on Friday night.

Binghamton starter Michael Gibbons survived only one-third inning of the first inning, surrendering all eight runs (six earned). The Fisher Cats sent 13 batters to the plate, with Espinal collecting three of his five RBIs, on a two-run homer and RBI groundout.

Espinal added an RBI single in the third and a run-scoring double in the ninth. Chad Spanberger added a double and two singles to New Hampshire's 11-hit attack.

The beneficiary of the early explosion was starter Hector Perez, who worked five inning and allowed two runs. Ty Tice worked a scoreless 1 1/3 innings to earn his second save.

The teams play again today at 2:05 p.m.
