On a brutal night to play baseball, the New Hampshire Fisher Cats were held to one hit in a 2-0 loss to the Reading Fightin Phils Monday at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.
Joshua Palacios' third-inning double was all New Hampshire could muster against four Reading hurlers. Starter Mauricio Llovera worked four innings, allowing that one hit. Luke Leftwich (1-0), who pitched the fifth and sixth innings, got the win.
Ali Castillo and Austin Listi teamed up for both of Reading's run. In the fourth, Castillo tripled home Listi, and in the sixth, Castillo reached on a fielding error, scoring Listi.
New Hampshire received a nice effort from starter Andrew Sopko (0-1), who allowed one run on three hits over five innings. He walked one and fanned four. Reading finished with four hits.
Game time temperature was listed at 35 degrees.
The teams are scheduled to play the middle game of the series tonight (6:35 p.m.).
