Four Fisher Cats pitchers held the Portland Sea Dogs to one hit Saturday night, but the visitors still came away with a 2-1 win in Eastern League play at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
The Sea Dogs scored both runs in the top of the first without benefit of a hit. Three walks by New Hampshire starter Hector Perez (7-5) loaded the bases. A passed ball by catcher Alberto Mineo allowed Jarren Duran to score, and a Joey Curletta sacrifice fly scored Brett Netzer.
Portland's only hit was a fourth-inning single by Jeremy Rivera off reliever William Ouellette.
The Fisher Cats got one back in the fourth. Nash Knight and Josh Palacios singled. Mineo sacrificed both over and Kevin Smiths scored Knight with an RBI grounder. New Hampshire only amassed five hits off three Portland pitchers.
Daniel McGrath (6-0) earned the win with seven innings of four-hit, one-run ball. He fanned eight and walked none. Dany Jimenez got his seventh save. He walked the first two New Hampshire batters in the ninth but pitched out of the jam.
The teams complete their three-game weekend series Sunday at 1:35 p.m.
