Patrick Mazieka's two-run double in the third inning proved to be the key blow in the Binghamton Rumble Ponies' 4-1 victory over the visiting New Hampshire Fisher Cats in an Eastern League game on Monday night.

Kevin Smith's RBI double in the first inning was all the run production New Hampshire (seven hits) could manage against three Binghamton pitchers. Michael Gibbons (1-1) earned the win with five innings of work; Stephen Villines pitched a perfect final two innings to get his second save.

Patrick Murphy (0-2) took the loss, pitching 4 1/3 innings and surrendering all four Binghamton runs.

The teams are scheduled to play again tonight and Wednesday night in Binghamton. The Fisher Cats return to Manchester for a six-game homestand beginning Thursday night against Hartford.
