The Fisher Cats scored six runs in the third inning and cruised to an 8-3 win over the Trenton Thunder on Saturday night in Eastern League play at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
The teams complete their three-game series Sunday at 1:35 p.m.
Trenton led 2-1 when New Hampshire came to bat in the third. Santiago Espinal was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded to drive in a run, then Brock Lundquist singled home two to make it 4-2. Christian Williams tripled home two more to make it 6-2 and Kevin Smith's RBI single made it 7-2.
A Josh Palacios sacrifice fly in the first scored Vinny Capra to give New Hampshire (1-3, second half) a 1-0 lead. Trenton (2-2, second half) took a 2-1 lead in the third on an RBI groundout by Kyle Holder and run-scoring single from Ben Ruta.
Kyle Holder doubled home a run in the fourth for Trenton. New Hampshire tacked on a run in the sixth when Forrest Wall reached on an error, scoring Smith.
Yennsy Diaz (6-5) got the win, going five innings, allowing three runs on four hits, striking out six. Justin Dillon finished up with four innings of two-hit relief. Rony Garcia (1-5) took the loss for Trenton.
