Fisher Cats pitching held the Richmond Flying Squirrels to six hits in New Hampshire’s 4-1 Eastern League win Friday in Richmond, Va.
T.J. Zeuch (8-4) started and got the win with six shutout innings. He allowed four hits and struck out five with no walks. Zach Jackson allowed the only Richmond run — an eighth-inning homer by Luigi Rodriguez — and newcomer Corey Copping got his first save with the Fisher Cats with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless relief.
New Hampshire scored three in the third inning. A wild pitch by Richmond starter and loser Chase Johnson (1-3) allowed Santiago Espinal to sore the first run. Connor Panas then scored on Forrest Wall’s RBI groundout, and Bo Bichette scored on Harold Ramirez’s RBI single.
Max Pentecost’s solo homer in the sixth rounded out the scoring for the Fisher Cats.
The teams play the second game of the series tonight at 6:05 p.m.
