Yennsy Diaz was a tough nut to crack in Game 1 of Tuesday's doubleheader between the New Hampshire Fisher Cats and Reading Fightin Phils. The 22-year-old right-hander went the distance in the Fishers' 4-0 win, holding the Reading bats to two hits while recording a pair of strikeouts.
The Phils scored seven runs in the third inning to take the nightcap, 8-1. New Hampshire prospect Nate Pearson pitched a perfect first two innings of the second game, striking out three, before being removed on the unseasonably cold night.
In the opener, Brock Lundquist led the way for the Fisher Cats, going 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Christian Williams and Vinny Capra were responsible for driving in the other two New Hampshire runs.
The teams finish their series Wednesday with a 10:30 a.m. game.
