Hartford took a six-run lead in the third inning and was never threatened in a 12-4 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in Eastern League play on Saturday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.

Colton Welker homered and drove in four for Hartford. Ryan Metzler went 2-for-2, scoring twice and driving in three. Brian Serven homered and drove in two. Jack Wynkoop (1-3) went five innings for the Yard Goats, allowing seven hits and two runs, striking out three to earn the win.

Patrick Murphy (0-3) suffered the loss for New Hampshire, allowing seven hits and six runs, five earned, in 2 2/3 innings. Jackson McClelland allowed two runs in two relief innings, and Jake Fishman was reached for three runs in his inning of relief.

New Hampshire outhit Hartford 13-12 but left 17 runners on base. Nash Knight homered, went 3-for-4, scored twice and drove in one. Vinny Capra had two hits and an RBI. Gunnar Heidt had two hits and an RBI.

The Fisher Cats are off Easter Sunday and resume play Monday night at home against Trenton. First pitch is 6:35 p.m.
