Nate Pearson pitched 5 2/3 shutout innings as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat the Binghamton Rumble Ponies 1-0 for the second consecutive night on Thursday. Thursday's game was shortened to seven innings because of heavy rain in Binghamton, N.Y.

The Fisher Cats scored their lone run with their first two batters in the first. Leadoff hitter Cullen Large tripled and Josh Palacios drove him home with a sacrifice fly.

New Hampshire only collected one other hit, a Christian Williams single in the fifth, off Rumble Ponies starter Tommy Wilson (4-5), who struck out seven and walked one in seven innings.

Pearson (1-4) allowed four hits, walking three and striking out six to earn his first Double-A win. Vinny Nottoli earned his second save with 1 1/3 innings of hitless ball. He walked one and fanned one.

The Fisher Cats return home Friday night to start a three-game series with the Portland Sea Dogs at 7:05 p.m.
