Hartford's Vince Fernandez homered and drove in three runs in the Yard Goats' 4-3 win over the New Hampshire Fisher Cats in Eastern League play on Thursday night at Dunkin' Donuts Park in Hartford, Conn.
Fernandez put Hartford up 2-0 with his ninth homer of the season in the first. The Fisher Cats tied the game with two in the third as Kevin Smith doubled home Forrest Wall, and Chad Spanberger singled home Smith.
New Hampshire took the lead in the sixth on Nash Knight's sacrifice fly, scoring Brock Lundquist, but Hernandez hit his 10th homer of the season in the bottom of the inning to tie it at 3. In the eighth, Hartford's Alan Trejo singled home Colton Walker for the game-winning run.
Hector Perez started for New Hampshire, allowing three runs on seven hits in six innings. Jonathan Cheshire (1-1) too the loss, allowing a run on four hits in two innings.
Jordan Foley (2-0) earned the win for Hartford in relief of Ty Culbreth, who went six innings, allowing three runs. Ben Bowden pitched the ninth for his 13th save.
The teams continue their four-game weekend series Friday at 7:05 p.m.
