Eduardo Navas led off the six-run third inning with a single and later in the same inning delivered a two-run single as the Trenton Thunder beat the visiting New Hampshire Fisher Cats 7-5 in Eastern League action on Sunday.
The big inning made a winner of starter Nick Green (1-1), who worked six innings and allowed two runs. Fisher Cats starter Justin Dillon (1-1) took the loss.
New Hampshire rallied to within 6-5 in the seventh inning on Santiago Espinal's three-run triple. But that was as close as the Fisher Cats would come, and Trenton added an insurance run in the bottom of the inning for the final margin.
Vinny Capra had a double and single for New Hampshire, which outhit Trenton 10-9.
The Fisher Cats moved on Reading, Pa., where they will play four games in three days (doubleheader on Tuesday). They return home to battle the Portland Sea Dogs, the EL affiliate of the Boston Red Sox, in a four-game series starting Thursday night at 7:05.
