The New Hampshire Fisher Cats rallied to score six runs in the fifth inning -- twice -- to sweep the Trenton Thunder 6-4 and 8-6 in an Eastern League doubleheader on Tuesday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.
In the nightcap, the Fishers managed only three hits in the fifth inning, but one of them was a two-run double by Forrest Wall. Brock Lundquist added a two-run homer for insurance in the sixth. Kirby Snead (2-0) earned the win with two innings of one-run ball.
In the opener, Santiago Espinal's three-run double, followed by RBI doubles from Gunnar Heidt and Chad Spanberger, keyed the big fifth. Ty Tice (1-2) earned the victory with two innings of scoreless middle relief, and Jake Fishman notched his first save with two scoreless frames.
The teams are scheduled to play again tonight at 6:35 p.m. in the series finale.
