Justin Dillon and Dany Jimenez combined on a shutout and Forrest Wall clubbed a two-run homer to break a scoreless tie in the eighth inning as the New Hampshire Fisher Cats beat the Portland Sea Dogs 2-0 in an Eastern League game on Monday night at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium in Manchester.
Wall's one-out blast, his eighth homer of the season, came on a 1-1 pitch from Durbin Feltman (2-3) and made a winner of Jimenez (2-1), who limited the Sea Dogs to one single over the last two innings. He fanned four.
Dillon was brilliant over the first seven innings, allowing only two singles to Joey Curletta. Dillon walked two and fanned seven.
The shutout was the sixth of the season for the Fisher Cats, all combined.
Nash Knight had three singles in New Hampshire's seven-hit attack. The game took 2 hours, 14 minutes.
The teams play again here on Tuesday night (7:05 p.m.), then conclude their series on Wednesday at noon.
