A four-run fourth inning by Barrington, R.I., spoiled Goffstown’s dreams of a trip to the Little League World Series as the Ocean State champions beat the New Hampshire champs 6-4 in the Little League World Series New England Regional final Saturday in Bristol, Conn.

With the score tied at 2, Barrington’s Lucas Tanous singled through a drawn-in infield with the bases loaded to score the go-ahead run. The next batter, Owen Pfeffer, scored two with a bases-loaded bloop single to right, again over a drawn-in infield.

Barrington scored the tying run earlier in the inning when Chase Watts singled and scored on a wild pitch.

Goffstown scored a run in the first. Dillon Gaudet doubled and scored on Noah Durham’s single. Barrington tied it in the third as James Caldarella walked and scored on an infield single by Pfeffer. Goffstown retook the lead in the bottom of the third when Adam Lafond stole home as part of a double steal.

Goffstown clawed a run back on a strange play in the fifth. With runners on first and second, Durham popped out to Barrington second baseman Mason Crain, who dropped the ball on the transfer. Both Goffstown runners tried to tag up, and Gaudet was out trying to advance to second. Lafond, who started on second, broke for home and scored when Pfeffer’s throw to the plate was high and wide.

Barrington got that run back in the top of the sixth. Tanous led off with a single and scored on a Christopher Promades groundout.

Goffstown threatened in its final at-bat. Max Bridgeman doubled to deep center and scored on Chase Philibotte’s RBI single. Lafond came to the plate representing the tying run but Pfeffer, the Barrington pitcher, struck him out to finish his complete-game victory. Pfeffer allowed nine hits and four runs, striking out three.

Lafond took the loss, allowing four runs and six hits in 3 1/3 innings. He struck out seven and walked two.
