Matt Burroughs, shown in action at the Manchester City Golf Championship last month, took the title on Thursday at the NHGA Mid-Amateur Championship.

Derryfield Country Club's Matt Burroughs fired a final-round 69 to win the New Hampshire Golf Association Mid-Amateur Championship on Thursday at Concord Country Club.

The title was the third NHGA major crown for Burroughs and his first Mid-Am title. Burroughs' last NHGA major title was in 2006 when he won both the Players Invitational and the New Hampshire Amateur Championship.

Burroughs finished with a three-round total of 208 (two over par) to win by five strokes. On Thursday, he carded four birdies (for the third straight day), one bogey and one double-bogey on the par-4 10th hole.

There was a three-way tie for third place among Brett Wilson of The Golf Club of New England and Concord CC's Fletcher Sokul and Will McLaughlin, all of whom finished at 213. Rochester Country Club's Jamie Ferullo and Jim Cilley of Pembroke Pines tied for fifth at 214.
