Souhegan Woods’ Brandon Gillis, Derryfield Country Club’s Matt Burroughs and Hanover Country Club’s Pat Pelletier fired one-over-par 73s and led all New Hampshire golfers after Tuesday’s first round of the New England Amateur Championship at The Quechee Club, Hartford, Vt.

Gillis, Burroughs and Pelletier were locked in a 14-way tie for 19th place. Old Sandwich Golf Club’s (Mass.) Charlie Dubiel held the lead after a five-under 67.

Jake Hollander of The Shattuck Golf Club fired a 74 and was tied for 33rd place. Four Granite Staters were at 76: Concord CC's Matt Paradis, Nashua CC's Tommy Ethier, Stonebridge CC's Sam Ohno and Laconia CC's Ryan Anderson.

Round two of the tournament (18 holes) is set for Wednesday. The low 40 scorers and ties after Wednesday will continue play Thursday (36 holes).
