Hooksett’s Rich Berberian Jr. plays his shot from the fourth tee during the first round of the PGA Championship on Thursday at Bethpage Black. Berberian shot a six-over-par 76.

Everything was going well for Hooksett’s Rich Berberian Jr. as he prepared to make the turn at Bethpage Black Course on Thursday.

He had just finished the front nine one over par and was facing a four-hole string that included three par-fours and a par-five. Instead of taking advantage, Berberian struggled, two-putting his way to four-straight bogies and a six-over-par 76 in Round 1 of the PGA Championship.

His score has him tied with noted pros like Bubba Watson, Jason Dufner and Kiradech Aphibarnrat, and he is one stroke behind John Daly, who was allowed to use a golf cart because of chronic arthritis in his knee.

Berberian tees off at 6:56 a.m. on Friday alongside Cameron Champ and Lucas Glover.
