Jack Pepin, a 15-year-old from Plaistow, earned medalist honors and was one of 22 golfers that qualified for the NHGA New Hampshire Amateur Championship Thursday at Pease Golf Course in Portsmouth.

Pepin, an Atkinson Resort and Country Club member, birdied his first three holes and finished with a five-under 66. Golf Club of New England member Nick Hampoian placed second with his three-under 68. Pepin and Hampoian, a  University of Connecticut rising sophomore, were the only two golfers to earn under-par scores.

Other golfers who qualified for the State Am, which is scheduled for July 8-13 at Portsmouth CC, were Kyle Badger (72), Scott Rolph (72), Kurt Eddins (73), Michael Mahan (73), Derek Dinwoodie (74), Justin Grondahl (74), William Hartigan (74), Nick Kalil (76), David Della Penta (76), Matthew Hughes (76), Ryan Rothdiener (77), John Duarte (78), Patrick Hesseltine (78), Scott Hampoian (78), Ryan George (78), Peter Keilty (79), David Kane (79), Aaron Loring (79), Bill Moran (79) and Chris Takesian (79).
