Hanover senior Meredith Morhun birdied the 18th hole to give her a one-stroke victory in the NHIAA girls’ individual golf championship Saturday at Campbell’s Scottish Highlands in Salem.
Morhun fashioned a 6-over par 77 to edge Nashua South freshman Eva Gonzales, who had 78, by a shot. Trinity junior Rheya King and freshman Julianne Megan were three shots back at 9-over.
Both Morhun and Gonzales made the turn at 3-over 39 and both were 8-over entering the 18th, but Morhun posted a birdie four on the 446-yard, uphill dogleg 18th, while Gonzales carded a five for par.
Pinkerton 2, Salem 1 (2OT): In Salem, Macy Graves scored the winning goal in double overtime for the Astros (6-4). Emma Liptrop gave Salem the first-half lead with a goal, and the Astros equalized through Mattie Sullivan in the second half. Lindsay Blum made one save for Pinkerton. Salem is 2-7-1.
Londonderry 7, Goffstown 0: In Londonderry on Friday, Olivia Stowell had a hat trick as the Lancers improved to 10-0. Mia Stowell had a goal and an assist, and Gwen Barnes, Katie McCudden and Darby Dupuis added goals. Ashley Manor notched two assists. Liana Sawyer made two saves for the clean sheet. Ava Vaughn made 15 stops for Goffstown (6-3-1).
Pelham 2, Souhegan 1: in Pelham, Alex Gagnon's goal in the 70th minute lifted the Pythings. Rami Eid provided the assist, and Pelham is now 3-6-1.
Alex Gagnon scored to give Pelham a first-half lead but Souhegan (1-8) equalized through Mike Estabrook with an assist from Chris Weeden.
Jake Morrisette had two saves for Souhegan and Ryan Lockitt stopped three shots. Greg Niehalls had 10 saves for Pelham.
Sunapee 4, Pittsfield 0: In Sunapee, Michael Mullen scoerd twice, and Jackson Cooney and Parker Reed added goals for the Lakers (10-1). Sean Moynihan got the clean sheet with five saves. Pittsfield is 5-4-1.
Gilford 1, Berlin 0: In Gilford, Laurel Gingrich scored eight minutes into the game to give Gilford the only cushion it would need. Allyson Carr and Taryn Fountain helped set up Gingrich.
Randi Byars and Sydni Lehr played well on defense for the Eagles (7-3). Berlin is 4-5.
Pinkerton 2, Salem 0: In Salem, Lauren Lisauskas gave the Astros a 1-0 lead they took into halftime, setting up Mari Shea with the chance to put the game out of reach in the second half.
Lisauskas’ goal was unassisted while Shea’s came on a penalty stroke. Khaliyah Ellis made two saves for Pinkerton (9-0). Jaycie Ritter had three saves for Salem (3-7).
