It all comes down to this: No. 1 will play No. 2 for the state Division I football championship.

Bedford High, by virtue of its victory over Merrimack in the state semifinals, remained No. 1 in the New Hampshire Union Leader High School Football Power Poll released today.

The Bulldogs, one of three unbeaten (11-0) teams in the state, sit at the top for a seventh straight week. Their opponent for Saturday’s final at UNH’s Wildcat Stadium will be Pinkerton Academy of Derry, which began the season No. 1 and is now No. 2 after an impressive semifinal win at Salem.

Plymouth Regional, Division II’s only unbeaten, moved into the No. 3 spot this week after handling Souhegan in the semifinals. The Bobcats will chase a third straight title on Saturday at UNH when they line up against Alvirne of Hudson.

Alvirne, which beat St. Thomas of Dover in the semifinals, is making its first appearance in the poll and is tied (with Division I Windham) for ninth.

A total of 11 teams received votes, the fewest number all season.
