Michael Garteig stopped 44 shots for the Newfoundland Growlers in a 4-3 win over the Manchester Monarchs on Wednesday night in Game 4 of their ECHL North Division final series at SNHU Arena.

The Growlers lead the series 3-1. Game 5 is Friday night at the Rinks at Exeter at 7 p.m.

Cory Ward gave Manchester a 1-0 lead with his first-period goal, but the Growlers scored three in the second to take control. Pierre-Luc Mercier made it a one-goal game late in the period. After a Growlers goal made it 4-2, Mercier scored again with 13:16 to play, but Garteig and the Growlers shut the door.

Josh Kestner, Zach O’Brien, Brady Ferguson and Giorgio Estephan were the Growlers’ goal scorers.

Charles Williams made 29 saves for Manchester.
