WORCESTER, Mass. — The Manchester Monarchs rallied but fell short in a 3-2 loss to the Worcester Railers on Wednesday night at the DCU Center.
The Railers (11-11-3-0) got goals from Barry Almeida, Connor Doherty and Josh Holmstrom to open up a 3-1 lead. Nic Pierog scored for Manchester.
The Monarchs responded in the third period with a goal from Chris Carlisle, his first. Carlisle took a shot from the top of the Railers’ zone, that deflected high and slipped past the glove of Gillam. But the comeback ended there.
The Monarchs return to action Friday in Worcester against the Railers.
