The Manchester Monarchs’ rally fell one goal short in a 4-3 loss to the Maine Mariners on Thursday night in Portland.

Jared Fiegl, out of Cornell University, scored his first pro goal in his ninth pro game for Manchester. Russian Daniil Miromanov also scored for the Monarchs, as did Pavel Jenys, a native of the Czech Republic.

Manchester trailed 4-1 six minutes into the third period. Jenys' goal came with 27 seconds remaining with the Monarchs on the power play and after they pulled goalie Charles Williams, creating a 6-on-4. 

Williams made 29 saves.

UNH product Jason Salvaggio scored a goal for Maine. 

Manchester stays on the road to play Adirondack tonight at 7 p.m.
