Monarchs coach

Head coach Doug Christiansen and his Manchester Monarchs start the next round of the ECHL Kelly Cup playoffs on Friday at Newfoundland.

The Manchester Monarchs will play the Newfoundland Growlers starting Friday in the ECHL Kelly Cup North Division finals.

The Growlers advanced by beating Brampton 3-2 in overtime on Tuesday night to win their division semifinal series, four games to two.

The seven-game series will be played in a 2-3-2 format, with the first two games to be held at the Mile One Centre in St. John’s, Newfoundland, on Friday and Saturday nights (5:30 p.m. both nights).

The series will then shift to New Hampshire for Games 3,4 and 5, if necessary, on Tuesday, April 30, Wednesday, May 1 and Friday, May 3. Games 3 and 4 will be played at the SNHU Arena in Manchester. Game 5, if necessary, will be played at The Rinks in Exeter because of a scheduling conflict at SNHU Arena. Tickets at the door for that game will be $5.

Games 6 and 7, if necessary, would be Monday, May 6 and Tuesday, May 7 back in Newfoundland.
