The Manchester Monarchs scored three unanswered goals in the third period in a 4-1 win over the Adirondack Thunder on Wednesday morning at SNHU Arena in Manchester.
The Monarchs (5-6-1-1) opened the scoring at 16:16 of the first period when Spencer Watson scored his sixth goal of the season. Assisted by Chaz Reddekopp and Michael Doherty. Watson capitalized off a rebound at the left side of the net and snuck the puck past Thunder goaltender, Cam Johnson, to give the Monarchs a 1-0 lead.
The Thunder (10-4-0-0) eventually answered at 15:30 of the second period with a goal of their own, scored by Connor Riley. Riley scored his sixth of the season, off a pass from Dennis Kravchenko at the left point, where he wristed a shot that deflected off a stick and over the glove of Monarchs goaltender, Chris Driedger, to tie the game, 1-1.
The Monarchs scored the game-winning goal at 18:08 of the third period when Matt Marcinew scored his second goal of the season. Marcinew capitalized on a 2-on-1, and wristed a shot that dribbled past the glove of Johnson to give the Monarchs a 2-1 lead.
Nic Pierog followed Marcinew’s goal with an unassisted empty-net goal and Marcinew followed that with an empty-netter of his own in the final minute.
