Daniil Miromanov scored the only goal of the shootout as the Manchester Monarchs beat the Newfoundland Growlers 3-2 on Friday night to clinch an ECHL playoff spot.

Former Dartmouth College player Tim Shoup scored at 7:53 of the third period to force overtime, which guaranteed Manchester a point and a spot in the upcoming league playoffs. Manchester finishes its regular season tonight at home (6 p.m.) against Maine.

Cory Ward also scored for Manchester. Monarchs goalie Charles Williams made 34 saves, to 33 for Newfoundland's Michael Garteig.
