Gasper Kopitar had the only goal in the shootout in the Manchester Monarchs' 4-3 win over the Reading Royals on Saturday night in ECHL play at SNHU Arena.

Manchester 3-2 in the third period but Tony Camaranesi scored with 4:18 to play in regulation to tie the game. Matt Marcinew and Nick Moutrey provided the assists on Marcinew's third goal of the season.

The Monarchs twice took the lead in the opening period. Austin Strand scored his first of the year from Marcinew and Moutrey for a 1-0 lead at 13:03, but Reading's Dan Milan scored at 16:45, from Michael Huntebrinker and Chris McCarthy, to tie it up.

Stepan Falkovsky gave the Monarchs the lead 45 seconds later, at 17:30 on his first of the year from Marcinew and Zeb Knutson to give Manchester the lead back at 2-1, but Steven Swavely scored 46 seconds later, at 18:16, from Milan to even the score at the first intermission.

Nick Lukko scored his second of the year from Swavely and Adam Schmidt at 10:59 of the second to give Reading its first lead of the game at 3-2.

Charles Williams got the win in goal with 29 saves for Manchester. Branden Komm stopped 30 shots and took with the loss.

The Monarchs are next in action Wednesday in Portland, Maine, against the Maine Mariners, who are new to the ECHL.
