The Manchester Monarchs looked headed for a frustrating loss and instead came away with a thrilling win Saturday night.

Joe Pendenza scored the tying goal with 3:22 to play and Danil Miromanov notched the winner 2:55 into overtime in Manchester’s 2-1 win over the Adirondack Thunder in ECHL play at Cool Insuring Arena in Glens Falls, N.Y.

Adirondack seemed firmly in control on the strength of Mike Szmatula’s first-period goal at the 9:10 mark. John Edwardh assisted.

Adirondack goalie Alex Sakellaropoulos (31 saves) had a stellar night and almost got his team the two points, but Pendenza tied it with his seventh of the season from Pavel Jenys, which sent the game to overtime,

Matt Marcinew assisted on Miromanov’s goal, his first of the season, in 3-on-3 overtime.

Chris Driedger made 37 saves for the Monarchs, who are next in action Friday at home against Reading and next Saturday at home against Maine.
