MANCHESTER — Maybe the presence of the Stanley Cup in their building helped. Whatever the case, the Manchester Monarchs tied the game in the third period then beat the Norfolk Admirals 3-2 on Matt Marcinew’s goal 48 seconds into the extra period on Sunday at SNHU Arena.
Daniil Miromanov’s goal at 3:28 of the third period, a high wrist shot, tied the game before Marcinew worked his heroics, tapping home a rebound of a Tony Cameranesi drive.
Cameranesi scored the Monarchs’ first goal, in the first period.
Manchester goalie Charles Williams made 23 saves, to 25 for Norfolk goalie Jeremy Brodeur.
The win enabled Manchester to sweep the weekend. The Monarchs won at Adirondack 3-1 on Saturday night.
The Monarchs return to action on Friday night, hosting Worcester.
