Sidelined since tearing his ACL on the first day of OTAs last May, tight end Hunter Henry was activated to the Los Angeles Chargers’ 53-man roster on Monday. Henry, 24, was promoted from the Physically Unable to Perform list and replaces linebacker Jatavis Brown, who was moved to injured reserve with an ankle injury.

The Chargers held out hope all season that Hunter, a third-year tight end, could return from the right knee injury if the team advanced in the playoffs. Los Angeles travels to New England for an AFC divisional round playoff game on Sunday.

A second-round pick in 2016, the 6-foot-5, 250-pound Henry has appeared in 29 games (23 starts) and has 81 career receptions.

for 1,057 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Henry returned to practice on Dec. 17, opening a 21-day window in which the Chargers had to activate him or else he would be ineligible until next season.
