NFL: Preseason-New York Giants at New England Patriots

Demaryius Thomas, left, and Gunner Olszewski will likely be with the Patriots when they kick the season off next Sunday.

Giants backup quarterback Kyle Lauletta connected with Alonzo Russell on a 14-yard touchdown pass as time expired to give New York a 31-29 win over the New England Patriots in the final preseason game for both teams Thursday night in Foxborough, Mass.

The Patriots kick off the regular season Sunday, Sept. 8 at home against the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Rookie Jarrett Stidham made his case to be Tom Brady's primary backup by going 18 for 25 for 25 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. He hooked up with Demaryius Thomas on TD passes of 35 and 3 yards in the second quarter as New England took a 29-10 lead into halftime. Thomas caught seven passes for 87 yards. Josh Gordon caught two passes and Julian Edelman hauled in one as Brady took the night off.

Nick Brossette scored from 1 yard out for New England. He led the Pats with 62 rushing yards on 20 carries.

The second half was all Ginats as Lauletta hit Scott Simonson for a 27-yards TD pass and Wayne Gallman rumbled in from 6 yards out before Lauletta's game-winning 70-yard drive.
