In his first action of the preseason, Patriots quarterback Tom Brady was 8-for-12, for 75 yards, and exited in the second quarter of Thursday night's game against the Carolina Panthers in Foxborough, Mass.
The Patriots won 10-3.
Jarrett Stidham replaced Brady and was 13-for-15, for 134 yards, the rest of the way. Neither QB was intercepted.
The Patriots led 7-0 at halftime on fullback James Develin's 1-yard plunge, capping a 15-play, 85-yard drive.
Carolina pulled within 7-3 on a 41-yard field goal by Joey Slye with 10:11 remaining in the game, but New England responded with a 10-play, 70-yard drive that ended with a Steven Gostkowski 23-yard field goal.
The Patriots' Nick Brissette led all rushers with 14 carries for 53 yards. Sony Michel added 36 yards on 10 carries.
New England's Jakobi Meyers led all receivers with seven catches for 71 yards. Wide receiver Philip Dorsett added seven catches for 47 yards.
The Patriots held Carolina to 48 net passing yards and 51 rushing yards.
New England improved to 3-0 in the preseason entering its final game next Thursday night at home against the Giants.
