Following the news of Julian Edelman’s thumb injury, the Patriots are exploring depth options at wide receiver.
The club worked out free agent wideout Justin Hunter, a source confirmed.
Additionally, the Pats reportedly worked out receivers Nick Williams, Papi White, and Travin Dural.
Hunter is the most well-known player of the group. A second-round pick of the Titans in 2013, Hunter’s combination of size (6-foot-4, 203 pounds) and speed made him an intriguing high-upside player. Hunter appeared to be on the verge of a breakout, totaling 498 yards on 17.8 yards per reception in his second season, but never came close to repeating those stats. He played for the Bills, Dolphins, and Steelers in the past three seasons.
Williams is a slot receiver and punt returner who most recently played for the Titans and Rams.
