Visiting Angels defeated Atlas 6-2 in Manchester Over-40 Hockey League play last Friday.

With the win, the Visiting Angels moved into a fourth-place tie with Luigi’s, and both VA and Luigi’s are now only one point behind third-place Atlas.

Glen Boisvert and Lance Laverriere led the way for Visiting Angels. Boisvert had three goals and an assist. Laverriere two goals and two assists. Jim Figuieira chipped in with three assists. Atlas goals came from Gene Webber and Roger Lavoie. Rocky Desrosiers registered 32 saves en route to the win. Dave Anstey had 26 for Atlas.

Also, Luigi’s Pizza and second-place Phaneuf Funeral Homes battled to a 3-3 stalemate. Scoring for Luigi’s were Mark Crowley, Don Bergeron and Daren Blais. The Phaneuf sextet got goals from Rick Crocker, Scott Legasse and John Cail. Danny Leblance had two assists. Luigi’s Dan Smith and Phaneuf’s Mark Sloan each had 26 saves.

Games of Friday, Dec. 14

Phaneuf Funeral Homes nipped Visiting Angels 5-4. Phaneuf got goals from Roy Chamberlain, Paul Kelley, Mike Van Uden, Rick Crocker and Guy Chouinard, who scored into an empty net. Ken Proulx led the Visiting Angels sextet with two goals. Jeb Sayer and Steve DesRuisseaux also scored. Larry Dunn was the winning goalie as he turned aside 25 shots. Rocky Desrosiers had 29 saves for VA.

The nightcap saw LeClerc State Farm Insurance and Atlas Precision Metal Fabricators battle to a 4-4 tie. Scoring for LeClerc were Eric Lajeunesse, Dave Beliveau, Artie Soucey and Tony Hallee. Nick Therrien, the league’s leading scorer, had two assists. Atlas got goals from Bob Petrin, Steve Smith, Mike Dunne and Doug Martin. Mark Sloan had 27 saves for LeClerc; Dave Anstey had 20 for Atlas.

Games of Friday, Dec. 7

LeClerc State Farm Insurance drubbed Phaneuf Funeral Homes 8-2, paced by Nick Therrien, who had a goal and three assists. Dave Robidoux scored two goals. LeClerc also got goals from Kelly Morgan, Tony Hallee (who also had two assists), Artie Soucey, Dave Beliveau (two assists) and Dan Charest. Phaneuf got goals from John Cail and Scott Legasse. Mark Sloan earned the win as he recorded 23 saves. Scott Greer faced 32 shots in the LeClerc net.

The second game saw Visiting Angels beat Luigi’s 4-2. The Angels were led by Jim Figueira, who had two goals, and by Steve DesRuisseaux, who had a goal and two assists. Marshall Young also scored for the winners. Luigi’s got goals from Mike Gamache and Scott Greenwood. Rocky Desrosiers had 31 saves for VA and Dan Smith 27 for Luigi’s.

Games of Friday, Nov. 30

Luigi’s Pizza posted a 6-2 win over Atlas Precision Metal Fabricators. The winners were led by Mark Crowley, who scored twice, Roger Lajeunesse, who had a goal and two assists, and by Glenn Ranfos, who had three assists. Rounding out the scoring for the winners were Eric Grant and Steve Veilleux. Atlas got goals from Mike Dunne and Gene Webber. Dan Smith earned the win, recording 22 saves. Jamie Pinard had 27 saves for Atlas.The second game saw Kelly Morgan score a late goal for LeClerc State Farm Insurance to salvage a 5-5 tie with Visiting Angels. Dave Beliveau tallied twice for the LeClerc sextet with Tony Halle and Dave Robidoux also scoring. Eric Lajeunesse had two assists. Visiting Angels got two goals each from Matt Tanner and Ken Proulx. Glen Boisvert also scored with Lance Laverriere chipping in with two assists. LeClerc’s Mark Sloan turned aside 26 shots while Visiting Angels’ Rocky Desrosiers faced 35 shots.
