The Union Leader Headliners series will feature one on one conversations with compelling guests who have local ties to the region.

Residents from all parts of New Hampshire are welcome and will come away with a glimpse into the guest’s history, how they became who they are today and how being from New Hampshire has helped to shape their journey.

He's been to Hollywood and back.  Join us for a behind-the-scenes conversation with Comedian Juston McKinney.  The Portsmouth native will talk about how his New England roots inform his comedy, including his days as a deputy sheriff in a small Maine town. McKinney has toured the country extensively and has appeared numerous times on late night TV and his own stand-up specials, including the recent "Parentally Challenged" streaming on Amazon Prime that was taped at Manchester's Palace Theatre.  These days, McKinney lives in Newmarket, where he and his wife are raising two young boys.  

Juston’s credits include multiple performances on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno, The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, his own Comedy Central Presents special and his one-hour special Juston McKinney - A Middle-Class Hole, released by Warner Brothers.  He was chosen to be a part of the Blue Collar Comedy “Next Generation” Tour and hosts the weekly Sirius/XM radio  program Live from the Woods with Juston McKinney.  His new one-hour special, Parentally Challenged, is available on Amazon Prime.

This Headliners event will feature hiker and volunteer rescuer Pam Bales and the Executive Director of NAMI NH Ken Norton in an important conversation about mental health. Ty Gagne will talk with Pam about the incredible day she came upon footprints in the snow while hiking Mount Washington and followed them to an individual in need of rescue, both physically and emotionally. Ken Norton will talk about mental health and suicide prevention and we will discuss how we can all make a difference each and every day, sometimes without knowing it.

 Oscar winner and Durham native Matt Renner will join us in Concord for a conversation about the Oscar winning documentary Free Solo.  Free Solo depicted professional rock climber Alex Honnold’s journey to conquer the first free solo climb of the infamous El Capitan at Yosemite National Park.   After the conversation with Matt, there will be a screening of Free Solo.
